What is a Eucharistic Congress?
In the Catholic Church, a Eucharistic Congress is a large gathering of clergy, religious, and laity to bear witness to the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. A Congress brings together people from a wide area for Masses, Talks, Eucharistic Adoration, and Devotions over several days.
Where will it take place?
The Diocese of Marquette Eucharistic Congress will take place at the Superior Dome on the campus of Northern Michigan University Friday, June 9th and Saturday, June 10th, 2023. We anticipate an exciting event for the whole family with tracks for adults, teens, and children. The theme is 'One Thing is Necessary,' taken from Jesus' words in Luke 10:42.
Why have a Eucharistic Congress?
The Diocesan Eucharistic Congress caps the first year of National Eucharistic Revival, an effort to revive belief and devotion to Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist. We want to see people healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist. Plans are also being made for a National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis July 17-21, 2024.
The Patron Saints of the National Eucharistic Revival are Saint Manuel Gonzalez Garcia and Blessed Carlo Acutis.
